Do you want to play a major role?
With the purpose of taking charity action and in pursuit of prevention and proactive envolvement, since 2003 Cruz del Sur has led the "Do you want to play a major role?” campaign, by means of which collects and gives cardboard to the Paper Recycling Program, organized by the Garrahan Foundation.
In 2007, the company consolidated the participation in this program and became the first company - within the program - to prompt and expand cardboard collection by opening its doors - offices and branches throughout the country - so that individuals, companies and/or other organizations contribute in the collection of cardboard, thus channelling people's interest in charity, and fostering collective awareness in environmental issues.
This programs has four major goals:
• To give the opportunity to help and be a partner of one of the main children hospitals in the country.
• Include the participation of all Cruz del Sur workforce; corporate philantropy fosters motivation and a feeling of belonging.
• The program raises awareness about rational use of paper and time consuming file operations, while fostering file digitalization, which decreases landfill material and saves time, making information search easier.
• Cruz del Sur has opened the doors to the community, inviting to participate in a charity program that not only yields economic benefits to the Garrahan Hospital, but also contributes to preserve the environment and energy resources.
By the end of 2006, Cruz del Sur had donated more than 22,000 Kg of paper and cardboard collected in the company Logistics Operation Center, located in the Central Provision Market of Buenos Aires. Through branch donations 18 tons of paper and carboard were collected between the months of April and June.

Cruz del Sur joins the Educ.ar project
Educ.ar is the National Ministry of Education educational website. With the purpose of spreading the use of technology tools for educational pursposes, the Ministry of Education has developed the program Recycling for school. Today, many companies are giving PCs and computer materials no longer in use in their organization. The material is put in good condition and given to schools and other organizations in need. In addition, educ.ar gives support, counseling, and digital alphabetization.
Cruz del Sur participates in the program contributing with know-how, infrastructure, and human resources, transporting to Buenos Aires the material given by the Banco Nación branches located in the provinces of the Argentine Patagonia.
Cruz del Sur is strongly committed to activities that foster, link, and spread initiatives that promote solutions for the prevention, adequate management, and proper treatment and disposal of electronic waste. Thus, Cruz del Sur makes its contribution to increase social and environmental awareness of the communities it works with.

Family of Services
Cruz del Sur contributes to the sustainable development of the society, joining our efforts with those of other sectors, taking part in non-profit groups or foundations committed to improving the life quality of the population.
Under this mission statement “Vicam y su Familia de Servicios” (Vicam and its Family of Services) was created: A cartoon magazine distributed among schools in Buenos Aires and the interior of the country as well as NGO's; several issues regarding prevention are discussed in the magazine.
The content is produced by Cruz del Sur discussing issues that have to do with the services our company provides, as well as the values the company stands by and wants to spread both among schools as well as NGOs working in prevention nationwide.

• Clean Mountain Day / Environmental Campaign (SM de los Andes) A Campaign carried out with the purpose of raising awareness among tourists about the importance of protecting the forests and natural habitats by keeping them clean, and to convey the message that Mountains are still enjoyable without being aggresive with the natural environment. This is specially important because there are places in the Argentine Patagonia which are still “wild” and untouched by man.

Scholarship granted to 70 students - meals included - through the school parents association. School materials, non-perishable food and educational items, together with a great number of issues of the "Family of Services" cartoon magazine.
